EXHAUST CHECKLIST

If you select NO for any of these questions, your exhaust system could be in danger of fire.

Are the technicians performing service on my kitchen exhaust system certified?

Is my exhaust cleaning company insured (Liability and Worker’s Comp.)?

Does my kitchen exhaust system meet NFPA 96?

Is my kitchen exhaust system fully accessible? Horizontal Duct: Are there access panels installed every 12’ and at every change in direction. Vertical Duct: Are there access panels installed on every floor and at the top of the riser. Up blast Fan: Does my fan have a hinge kit and is there an electrical disconnect with water tight conduit. Utility Fan: Is there access within 3 feet of the fan and are the fan blades accessible

Is my exhaust system being cleaned on the required frequency? Monthly: Systems cooking with a solid fuel (hardwood or charcoal) Quarterly: Systems serving high-volume cooking operations such as 24-Hour cooking, charbroiling, or wok style cooking. Semi-Annually: System serving Moderate volume cooking Annually: Systems serving low volume cooking such as churches, day camps, seasonal businesses or senior centers

Is my ductwork liquid tight?

Are my filters being cleaned on a regular basis?

Is my exhaust ventilator in good working order?

Have the belts been checked for wear and tightness?

Are the pulleys level and in good working order?

Are the bearings being greased at least 2 times per year?

Is my electrical conduit liquid tight and is it located on the outside of my fan?
